We are travelling down
the coast by coach and we have a jump on jump off pass all the way
from Cairns to Melbourne. Our next stop from Cairns is Mission Beach
which is meant to be a great place to skydive and lay around on the
beach, also it is the main place you can get over to Dunk Island. But
our timing with the weather wasn't that great, apart from the day we
arrived we managed to get down to the beach and have a walk around,
Matt also (after many attempts) got a coconut out of a tree which we
cracked open later (also after many attempts).
There isn't much to
Mission Beach, but there was a nice walk about an hour down the beach
we wanted to do the next day. But that evening we had a thunder storm
which then lasted into the whole of the next day to. I really didn't
want to get soaked to do this walk since not having a raincoat (we
weren't really expecting we would need them yet), but Matt was
determined to go. So packing him some lunch, booting him up and
giving him the cheapest umbrella we had to go out with, he went off
on his way.
About half an hour
later a knock on the bedroom door came and a soaked Matt came
slugging through the door – he wasn't a happy bunny. After this our
day was resorted to staying in the hostel reading and watching films,
there really wasn't anything we could do as there was no town to have
a look around.
The day after did not
look promising either so we decided it would be best to book our
ticket on the bus and go to our next destination – Magnetic Island!
