I added a few more photos to the Sihanoukville album, here: TaDa!
We
took at our bus at 8 in the morning yesterday and at about 1 PM it
broke down. It wasn't bad really, it just got super hot on the bus, so
we got off. - Waited on the super hot road. We took all of our things
off of this bus and within 45 minutes a new bus came and picked us up.
When
we got to the Cambodia/Thai border we had to get off the bus to do
paper work and then board a new bus in thailand. As we were wating in
line for passport checking I saw out old bus Drive away and then
imediately realized my load was a lot lighter. I had forgotten the
plastic bag I've been carrying around for 2 weeks - filled with a few
goodies I bought in Cambodia. =( =( =( I'm not terribly mad at myself
because for 2 weeks had been taking excellent care of teh bag, always
remembering it. it was just a dumb mistake getting off that one bus
sort of thinking we'd be getting back on, I sort of hate myself, but
not too much.
So I ended up losing a nice pinstriped dress-shirt
I bought for THREE dollars, I also lost 2 silk red blankets with golden
elephant designs stitched on, and I lost a purple silk purse with gold
elephants. It really sucks because I would have loved to have those
things in Canada, but I wasn't very attatched to them since I hadn't
used them yet. I'll most probably be able to find things like that in
Thailand again, but they for sure won't be as cheap as in cambodia,
will have to use my bargaining skills!
The thing that does
make me mad though is this: The only reason I'd been hanging onto them
was so that I could mail thm home in Bangkok. I couldnt mail them in
cambodia because we kept hearing all the post offices were too
unreliable. Cambodia has but a bitter taste in my mouth more than a few times. I did have a good time
there and there were lots of special sights and moments. but overall I
like Thailand so, so much more, and am happy to be back.
Will right again from Chaing Mai =)
