Hmm so we are back in Bangkok again, have been for 3 days and tomorrow morning we leave for Trat, a small beach/fishing town. Relax in Trat for a few days and then to Phomn Phen, Cambodia.
Bangkok is insane. It's dirty and confusing and colourful. Yesterday Dave and I went on an adventure to China Town. We took a boat down the river and got off, and slowly found our way to jam packed stinking hot rows and rows and rows of markets. There were so many people, that it was really the people that made us feel lost, we couldnt see the streets or street signs behind and in front of them. We were pretty close to our living area though, so we felt safe enough to just sort of get lost, and then if need be, take a Tuk Tuk back to the road we are staying on. In a travel book I found a noodle house I wanted to check out - so the kind of end goal of our china town trek was to find this restaurant. We got lost quite a few times, but in the end, we found it! And to sit and eat and cool of was very very nice. We tuk tuked home and just sort of lazed the night away, going for dinner then drinking a beer and reading at our hotel. We both agreed we'd rather save our money for better things than bar hoping and spending $ on overpriced drinks in tourism areas - and on top of that we end up getting a good nights sleep.
Today we went to go visit the Emerald Buddha, and the Royal Palace, but we were told a Thai memorial was going on today, we still walked further, eventually before we got there we were whisked away by another guy who showed us a round root we could take, to visit a few temples and end up in the same place, he said take a tuk tuk, we said ok. Then he just called a tuk tuk driver over. He told the tuk tuk driver what we wanted to see and said 60 Baht for th whole thing. - We knew it was a scam, but we did it anyway. We ended up seeig two really nice temples, but temples that were free to the public. I'm only assuming, but I think the public ones may not be as nice as the ones to have to pay for to get in. Either way, these were still very beautiful, so I can';t wait to see the bigger ones. The tuk tuk driver did eventually take us to a tailors, we knew what was going on. So we kind of guilty-like went into the store, looked at some designs, adn tehn said no thanks. (Some tuk tuk drivers get a commission from tailors). After all that we cam back, got a beer and now here I am. Ta Daaaa
EDIT:
How could I forget to mention! On our second night in Bangkok we checked out one of the famous "Sex Shows". As I explained to my mumma during an online chat - it wasn't so much sex, as much as it was women doing weird things with their 'pee pee's'. =P
When it comes with sex for entertainment though, I've only ever enjoyed it, when it seems pretty obvious that the women or women are enjoying it aswell. And these girls were so unimpressed, so unenthusiastic, and some even looked sad, so I, mainly felt sad while we were there. It was worth seeing, I guess, to know that it happens, but for the most part it just kind of strengthened my general dislike for men, especially white ones. Sorry to be a party pooper.
