Hi Again From The Amalfi Coast -

It’s Wednesday evening and we can report that the bad weather day, Tuesday, turned out to have some sunshine, while the better day, Wednesday (today) was more gray than sunny.

So, we grasped the sunshine on Tuesday afternoon and headed to the beach (Marlene was getting her nails and toes done). I lured Keaka away from his computer by getting him to the window and showing him all of the people walking the beach, while I lured Sophia with a suggestion of getting some gelato.

With the sun out I went out to the apartment porch and took a shot looking out to the left and down the coast. There’s also a shot up the main “street”, which I admit looks more like a pathway. Sophia & Keaka did get to the beach. After Keaka got into the water, Sophia went back to the apartment and changed into her bathing suit and a tee-shirt. The air temperature was 60 degrees and the water fairly cool, so Keaka took some time to get acclimated and in one photo he’s being chased by a cold wave. But, eventually Keaka gets into the water and has a smile. With the sun out we took a photo of the big town church, which seemed a little brighter. Sophia joined in quickly. And, the two of them had some fun in the water, the only two people brave enough to go swimming.

Tuesday was our family dinner high up the mountain and today was our Amalfi Coast tour with Rafaele and his Mercedes van. Pretty good photos from both experiences, though they never capture the true feeling (it’s always better to be there in person). Those photos coming up.

The Amalfi Coast is remarkable. It’s difficult to imagine a more impressive coastline. We keep talking about the great beauty of the Amalfi Coast and Lake Como. And, as we learned on our very early trip to Switzerland and northern Italy, we’re getting a chance to enjoy food much better than we’re accustomed to in the south of France.

It’s hard to imagine we’ve been in Europe for eight months and we’re down to only three months remaining until we get back to sweet pickle relish, cottage cheese, meat ball sandwiches, tuna fish sandwiches, beef and the list goes on.
