Poor-ban Living: The functions of five senses in Payatas

My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Philippines | Sunday, January 13, 2013 | 5 photos

I am a programmer by profession and a traveler by passion. From a curious kid who once attempted to memorize the globe in a rural elementary school library, to a novice high school feature writer who earned a ticket to a national journalism competition, I am now working as a systems developer for a global law firm after completing a degree in IT.

This might seem clichéd but my heart dreams to explore the world. I am still in the phase of discovering what opportunities could lead me to the fulfilment of my dream that's why I launched a travel blog. Associated with my travel ventures is my hunger to acquire new photography techniques and skills in order to produce gratifying photos; photos that 'talk' to people and urge them to be at those places the moment they see them.

I want my works to be seen not just by the virtual world—the Internet—but also by the world which has no access to such. Through travel photography I hope to become someone who influences others to chase their dreams while I’m living my own dreams. I strongly believe that this scholarship is one huge opportunity to attain all these stuff.

After absorbing all the details of this contest, I immediately went typing on my computer about the concept that I wanted to convey. The chance to acquire great ideas and hands-on experiences from an acclaimed National Geographic photographer is a gift that is worth sharing to others. I don't want to miss it.
