DAY 3 - Copenhagen, Denmark - Thorvaldsens Museum, Copenhagen Zoo

DENMARK | Friday, 25 September 2009 | Views [511]

Today started off well, left the hotel around 12pm and walked down to the Thorvaldsens Museum to check it out.  The interior is spectacular, with statues and busts of Roman gods, beautiful paintings and a magnificent collection of Egyptian burial finds.  So thank you Lorenz for recommending this museum to me.

After that I took a long stroll down the opposite way to visit the Zoo, that was exciting as well but I didn't stay to see the entire zoo, I was feeling very hungry.

Walked past the Danish military house, yowza !

I started a ledger book with a daily budget of $40 (200DK) so I can keep track of how much exactly I am spending and on what. I just write it all down in my journal.  Plus I copied down all the exchange rate conversions for each denomination so it's easier for me to refer to when purchasing something. I figure $10-20 for food and beverage at Netto, the discount grocery store (similar to BONUS in Iceland), and another $20 for other expenses - totaling up to $40 a day.

Hotel expenses are not included into that, which is about $100 (500DK) a day.  I'm still searching for couches to crash on too if anyone has one in Copenhagen.  Feel free to send me a message !

So all in all I believe I am doing very well for myself regarding money, budgeting is easy once you know where to shop and how much exactly you need.  I've just buying my own groceries and keeping them in my hotel room.  They last for days.

So anyway, I haven't rented a bicycle yet and I want to do it tomorrow (Friday) for $4 (20DK).  I gotta hop on over to the laundromat and do some laundry, I don't have any clean socks blah.  I really want to buy myself a new pair of jeans because the two jeans that I own have giant holes in the crotch.  I guess I could stitch them back up again but that's the poor mans route and I'm not exactly poor, yet. Even I can be a bit of a penny pincher but it's all good, I learned well from my family growing up on how to save and make things last.

Thought you'd find that interesting.  :-)

I am going to go out tonight and meet the civilians of Copenhagen for my first time since I've been here, it's time to socialize.  Good night !
