Europe or BUST
I am going to Iceland for 21 days on a volunteer expedition in east Iceland, actually. I will be donating my time to do organic farming with my workcamp. After that I will be on my own to backpack around Europe. Feel free to send me messages !
SEEDS - DAY 3 - On the way to Fljótsdalshérað

Haffie was gracious enough to put me up for the night at this house in Reykjavik before my meeting with SEEDS volunteers the next day at 8AM. We had a great time, especially when I introduced him to Devon Green's 'Welcome to my home' Brenda Dickson parodies. He's never heard of Devon Green and I was happy he didn't know because it made it so much more ejoyable to see him get a kick out of her. Apparently she does advertising in Iceland now? I saw her billboards up along the streets of Reykjavik.
At 8Am I met the group at Reykjavik City Hostel, all very young people from all walks of life and many of whom who are from Germany, Italy, France, Japan, USA, Wales, and Portugal. The car ride was very long (about 12 hours total to reach our destination) but the gorgeous Icelandic landscape made me forget about the duration. We stopped at a waterfall along the way, one of the largest waterfalls in Iceland and snapped some photos there. We also stopped at a geothermic lava field with bubbling sulphuric pool spewing smoke and gas. The rocky moon-like landscape looked as if it were part of a science fiction movie (I've heard of this but never before have seen something like this !). It was all too surreal, I can't wait to get the photos up online. We stopped at a few places to take photos and to enjoy the peace surrounding us. So 12 hours later we reach our destination thank god because I was starting to fall asleep back there.
I felt a wide range of emotions the entire time of our car ride but also feeling very relaxed. Often thinking about whether this is the right type of experience for me, but of course it is ! It's the first leg of my European journey ! My first time in Europe and I'm already traveling around the entire country of Iceland in 12 hours. When we arrive at camp we had dinner set out for us by our hosts, Eymundur and Lilya, it was delicious :-). I am sharing a guest house with 16 other people and there are only 3 bathrooms (I haven't taken a satisfying dump in a few days and I am looking forward to it; I usually have this problem when I travel.) I'm just a little self-concious about my snoring in front of complete strangers, apparently I'm a heavy snorer. Oh, and I'm sharing a room with two other dudes; I will most certainly be embarrassed in the morning if they say something about it. I really don't have anywhere else to go and sleep. Luckily I have Breathe Right strips, who knows how effective they will be.
So far the journey and the experience has been great. I do miss my family and friends already and I do miss being in my own bed. This is just the beginning...
I can't get rid of this cough I've had and I hardly even smoke anymore! Just thinking about how much kroner I handed over to SEEDS for the project fee and transportation fee - god I think it was well over $250 US dollars (300 Euro). It's kind of ridiculous that I'm spending all of my own money too.
