The Song I Sing

USA | Tuesday, 6 March 2012 | Views [182]

This is a folk song I wrote last summer while visiting the mountains in Medicine Bow National Forest, WY.  I find myself singing it often when I am at home in nature.

I went home to the mountains

to rest my weary soul

6 long years of traveling

sure can grow old

I went home to the river

Gave myself a swim

Dove deep down and came up new

My life now to begin

I went home to the forest

found my souls delight

built myself a campfire

and sang into the night

I went home to the meadow

Fell down on my knees

gave my thanks and offering

and fell in peaceful sleep

I went home to the sky

waved this world good-bye

Spread my wings, took off flight

and flew into the light...
