I arrived in Lyon yesterday to be greeted by Coline and sunshine! There was quite a bit of traffic heading to St.Didier au mont D'or via Lyon as people were either heading away for the summer holidays or coming in to Lyon as Le Tour de France was today. I had a few Aussie fellas on my plane as they were all coming to Lyon for "Le Tour" and were going to follow the tour by bike.
As always it was wonderful to arrive at the Duroni maison at St. Didier au mont D'or and, of course, we had some champagne while sitting outside in the sunshine and catching up. Michelle (Segolene's mother) arrived and we headed out to dinner at quaint restaurant in Poleymieux au mont D'or and we were joined by Dominic, Clara and Mary. Lovely evening with lovely people sitting outside under the tree's.
Today we (Segolene, Michelle, Coline, Cassandre and I) went to the village of Perouges (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pérouges). Very warm day but it was lovely driving through the French countryside and then having lunch at restaurant within the medieval fortress village of Perouges. We did think about then going and seeing "Le Tour" as it was in Lyon but we knew the crowds and traffic would be horrendous so decided to go home. We have had lovely day but are all feeling a bit weary now.
So I am going to sign off and enjoy a glass of champagne in the late afternoon sunshine!
A bientot!!

Well it is Bastille Day in France. We could hear fireworks going off last night in the surrounding villages and there will be a big firework display this evening in Lyon. It is now 3.00pm and I am at Lyon airport waiting for my flight at 4.00pm. Interesting that I am watching a woman smoke in the waiting area having cleared passport control and customs and she is smoking. I am not sure if it is allowed but it is not worrying her and no-one is saying anything...
After a lovely lunch outside in the garden Segolene, Coline and Cassandre drove me to the airport. It was wonderful to see them and spend the weekend with them as it had been 3 years since my last visit though it didn't feel like it had been that long. It was just lovely catching up and hearing about all their news and having a few laughs.
So now on to England and looking forward to seeing Sarah and Sophia. Sophia had only just been born when I was last there in 2010 so it will be wonderful to see her and I am sure we will have lots of fun!
Au Revoir!
