This is going to be news to some of my family and friends, I thought about sending an email but figured this is just as good - I'm going backpacking to China, well with a 21st Century spin on it, in that I'm not actually taking a backpack but a duffle bag on wheels. My logic is why carry something when you can push it? Besides I want to conserve my energy for all those day treks I'm going to be doing, honest.
I've been thinking about backpacking in China for a while, got as far as planning a loose itinerary but only got around to actually booking the tickets last week. As you can probably guess spent the rest of the week preparing which took me as far south as Manchester and then as far north as Newcastle in search of some decent hiking boots. Unfortunately I had to sacrifice style for comfort and have ended up with some pukey green hiking boots but considering I'm flying out on Wednesday I had to compromise sometime.
I say I'm going to China, that's not for certain right now as I don't actually have a visa. That I plan to get on Tuesday ready to fly out on Wednesday. It may be that I need to rename this journal two months in Hong Kong! I sure hope not.
I promise to update this journal as often as feasible.
