Never Stopping: With so much to see and do, tourists and locals alike rarely stop for a second look while walking through the Old Town’s narrow lanes. Upon seeing this well placed window, I proceeded to adjust the shutter speed and capture numerous pictures of blurred individuals in a hurry. Nonetheless, the pick of the bunch was this simple, mirrored shot that displays the relaxed yet purposeful stroll of these locals.

A City of Beauty and a City of War: Despite being a beautiful city with an array of natural and man-made masterpieces, Barcelona also harbours a darker past. A Republican stronghold in the Spanish Civil War, the Mediterranean metropolis suffered heavily during the reign of Franco and these scars were not quickly forgotten. This photo juxtaposes the two sides of Barcelona, with a blooming flower outshining the insidious barbed wire.

Night and Day: No visit to Barcelona is complete without a stop at La Boqueria, a bustling food market just off La Rambla. Packed with tourists during the day, locals often save their visits for the early morning or late afternoon, when they haggle for produce while avoiding the overpriced juices prominently dotting the stalls. But the night also brings with it a change in light, with the fruit and vegetables brilliantly illuminated by the glowing bulbs.
