My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Rockaway Beach, NY: Tables at St. Camillus School are overflowing with clothing provided by donations. The gymnasium doors were open for residents and suppliers alike. Trucks constantly pulled in and out of the street, with cadres of men and women of all ages hauling boxes of supplies inside. Occupy Sandy as well as FEMA were able to provide material assistance, but for most, it's not enough. Jose Marrero, a resident of Rockaway Beach, is among the many.

"I lost my martial arts memorabilia, my comic books that were probably worth thousands…but I also lost recorded memories of my children. FEMA can't give me money for that. Nobody can give me money for that." Hurricane Sandy caused over $63 billion USD in damage across the United States on October 2012.
