Day 18 – Saturday, July 23rd – Steamboat Springs, Colorado (layover day)

USA | Monday, 1 August 2011 | Views [352]

Weather still perfect – cold nights, cool mornings and warm days. I wasn’t too excited about another layover day since I just had one in Rawlins, but I decided to stay off the bike today to let my arms rest. I took the free city bus into town, shooting the bull with the bus driver who is from Hawaii and who told me his whole life story on the way to town – he moved to Steamboat because of his wife, then she left him, but then she came back.

I breakfasted at the local bagel shop (with a 15mbs Internet connection!), then errands – post office to return the bear repellent to Harvey; Ski Haus outdoor store to deal with my partially functioning MSR water filter (bought a new ceramic cartridge $44, ouch!); two hours at the very nice public library to check email; then back to the campground for early bedding down.
