Day 17 – Friday, July 22nd – Steamboat Lake State Park to Steamboat Springs, Colorado

USA | Monday, 1 August 2011 | Views [492]

Easy 30 mile ride to Steamboat Springs, stopping in the 1-store town of Clark for a grilled cheese sandwich. Then Phil bought a four berry homemade pie and we gobbled up the whole thing. The pie didn’t have a chance. It juiced us up for the 20 mile ride to Steamboat Springs which was downhill most of the way, along the Elk River surrounded by mountains and green hay pastures.

We rolled into Steamboat about 2:30pm and hit the Orange Peel bike shop where the mechanic (Scott) rebuild the bearing on my BOB trailer – now it’s ready for the haul to the Mexican border. Also got some new gloves which hopefully will help with the carpal tunnel symptoms I’m dealing with in my left arm. Hung out and had lunch in a city park, then Phil and Shannon showed up and had some service done on their bikes. Happy Hour $2 beers at a nearby bar, then some tasty burritos for dinner. I headed to the Steamboat campground to grab a shower and set up my tent; Phil & Shannon stayed in town for a free riverside concert and to look for some partying.
