I don't have a great deal to report, as last week most mostly given over to exploring in a similar way to previous weeks. I did make it out to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, which was quite good fun. Some of the birds of prey were put through their paces for our entertainment (owls and eagles mostly) and I hand-fed some kangaroos. There was the usual assortment of crazy Australian wildlife (including barking owls) and lots and lots of koalas. It's mating season so the males are doing a fair bit of bellowing, but otherwise they're pretty sleepy and inactive (due to some of the exciting chemicals in the leaves). Apparently they can swim very well and run pretty fast when they want to though. They also have little beady eyes and sharp, sharp claws and are generally a bit sinister. Brr.
Otherwise, I've been in a tow-truck for the first tim ein my life and seen some local bands. It's been good fun but time to move on, methinks. I head to Noosa this afternoon where I'll be going on a three day 'canoe safari' into the Everglades. Then, I'll be heading up the coast to Rainbow Beach for my three day adventure on Fraser Island. I'm really, really looking forward to all this. It does mean I'll be out in the sticks for a good part of the next week or two and so I may well drop off the radar for a while. I don't know if I'll have time/inclination/access to internet in between when I'm in relative civilisation, but I might. Still, don't worry if you don't hear from me for a while! I'll regale you all with my adventures when I get back.
