Saigon

Food is just as good as remembered,so spoilt for choice!Last night we went to a place called the barbeque garden, which was interesting, in the middle of the table is a gas BBQ and you get platters of raw ingredients and cook them yourself, which proved to be a little tricky with chopsticks! We went to the Saigon zoo and botanical gardens yesterday morning, and for 8000 dong was a cheap and cheerful way to spend time. Some of the critters there looked less than happy, but on the whole was ok. Had a rough nights sleep, noisy aircon, in the end we just went without. Up at 7am today, quick breaky of fresh fruit and yoghurt, and then to a local coffee shop for a strong iced vietnamese coffee, great wake up. We were then picked up at our hotel for our motorbike tour of the city. Totally awesome! The city is made up by the old section on one side and the new on the other. The clash of culture still amazes me. Was great way to see everything, and to be part of the throng of traffic, weaving in and out. Our drivers were really nice, and we all felt pretty safe, but I guess these guys have been on bikes since birth. We also went across the river by ferry on the bikes, visited a temple, looked at the boats that transport goods down to the Mekong, had a coffee and then lunch, a tasty Pho Bo, which is a soup, broth with rice noodles, beef strips and fresh herbs. Messy to eat, but filling and healthy. At the temple Hayley and Billi brought a couple of birds (looked like swallows)and then released them for good luck. More lucky for the birds I thought! We organised the tour with Adam, and he can be contacted by email, adam@vietnamandcambodia.com Have booked our tickets to Phnom Penh, $13 USD and we leave early in the morning and arrive, hopefully, about 3pm. Will meet up with Ian once there, which I'm looking forward to. Love to all!
