Port Douglas and Daintree April 2010

AUSTRALIA | Sunday, 25 April 2010 | Views [481]

We stayed at Shantara in Davidson Street, close to the town of Port Douglas.

We hired a Getz from Jam Jar Car Hire for 2 days and drove to Palm Cove, Mareeba, Mosman Gorge, through the Daintree rain forest and on to Cape Tribulation.

The highlights included:

·         Eating custard apples

·         Enjoying the warm tropical climate

·         Having a macchiato at Mareeba Coffee World

·         Celebrating our 10th anniversary at the Salsa restaurant

·         Watching the baby crocodiles on the boat trip up the Daintree river

·         Breakfast with the birds

·         Savouring the Daintree ice cream made from luscious tropical fruits

·         Walking in Mosman gorge in the rain

·         The gurgling tide slowly flowing into the mangroves

·         Being completely alone and surrounded by ancient cycads and ferns in the Daintree tropical rain forest

·         Snorkelling on the Great barrier Reef with Calypso
