We’ve been working on the house all week, mostly painting. The fumes from the enamel paint are taking their toll as is all the bending and stretching. When Connie stopped at the pharmacy to get Ibuprofen she got a funny look from the pharmacist when she asked for 300 tablets. They’re 400mg – Rx strength in the US so should last us for a while.
Tonight was our dinner with Parks, his wife, Eunice, Vanessa and Geoff and Tim. We had some interesting conversations, OK food (I made meat loaf, baked potatoes, and green beans), lots of wine and quite a bit of B.S. Geoff and Tim are rugby fans of the New Zealand All Blacks and the SA Springboks respectively, an explosive combination.
Parks is a black school teacher in one of the poorest local schools. He works wonders with almost nothing and I met him and his students when they did volunteer work here at the Centre. Parks and Eunice were perhaps the first Africans to sit at the dining room table at the Cheetah Lodge, a fact not lost on them. They were anxious but Vanessa, bless her, made them feel welcome.
