Nazca Lines, Peru

PERU | Sunday, 10 October 2010 | Views [456] | Comments [3]

After a one day delay I finally got a flight over the Nazca Lines.  The company I booked with said the delay had to do with the small airplane I booked.  Apparently all the small planes were at the airport at Pisco, instead of here in Nazca, though I suspect the delay had more to do with safety issues because of the plane crash last week that killed a few tourists, unfortunately, than with the planes being at the wrong location.  The flight on the dinky 6 person airplane with two pilots and three other tourists went well.  The pilot did loops around all the major lines and I got a few good pictures even though he flew like he was trying to evade a Japanese Zero.  It was a bit bumpy but all went well and we all got some pretty nice pictures.  I'm back on the ground, alive and on my way to Arequipa tonight.

Very nice Joe Joe. If you send me the original photos I can increase the contrast on them for you so it will be even easier to see the details of the lines.

hi joe,
yeah the staying alive part that's always a good thing. you know if you ever get bored you can always become a professional target that could be really exciting. aren't you glad we did the flying thing so you get get an idea about those planes. must have been cool to see those lines from the sky.
