Palmyra, Syria

SYRIA | Wednesday, 3 December 2008 | Views [678] | Comments [1]

I didn't think it would be possible to see to many Roman ruins.  I'm "ruined" out after Palmyra.  It's a small town, with a scattered Roman city on it's outskirts.  As usual, not to many tourists, so the highlight was crawling and climbing through a two thousand year old town with not many other people in sight.  Makes it feel more adventurous, instead of the ordered, appropriate distance reverence you find behind the ropes and gates of the European sites.  Nothing like climbing Roman columns unimpeded.  You'll notice my pictures are starting to suck less.  I'm starting to figure out framing, lighting, angles and shadows.  Hopefully by the end of this trip I'll be able to take a photo that does these places justice.

Hi Joey, I'm happy to be able to read
about the place you have been visiting.
That must be so rewarding, and interesting. You will have a lifetime
of wonderful memories, thats for sure.
Have a great Christmas wherever you will be celebrating, think of all of your family back in the good ole USA.
too bad you won't be getting any of my
gingerbread cookies this year but I would have sent some if Icould. Love,
aunt Donna
