Hey Jo!

PHILIPPINES | Thursday, 5 March 2009 | Views [429]

Everyone knows my name. I feel really special when people greet me with a smile and a “Hey Jo.” This cracked me up the first few times but I have discovered that this is a habit left over from when a lot of US military were based in Japan. Local people would greet them “Hey Joe” as in G.I. Joe. Nowadays it's quite common foreigners are greeted in the same way whether their name is Jo or not. People are so friendly here. They smile and say hello as we pass them in the street.
