Handel lived for over 30 years in Brooke St, a 5 minute walk from Oxford Circus tube station. We just visited his modest 3 storey home where he lived with his manservant and staff, now a museum, and will return for a harpsichord recital tonight. The recital room is tiny, but this is where he rehearsed with the colourful singers and musicians of his day. We heard a wonderful soprano with harpsichordist practising some of his opera arias for a concert on Thursday. The room seats 30 at a squeeze, and the rooms are lined with portraits of Handel, his associates and places he frequented. I hope the only photo I was allowed to take is saved below. Tags on photos still a work in progress!
