Jim and Nic go 'round the world in 180 Days

The Big Bight!

AUSTRALIA | Tuesday, 8 December 2009 | Views [412]

Friday 4th December

Fowlers Bay SA

Anther 644 kms today pushing ever closer towards home. In the past two days we have gone twice the distance of the last three weeks.

By lunchtime we had hit the head of the Great Australian Bight. A dramatic coastline with plunging cliffs and huge sand dunes. Popped into the old telegraph station at Eucla just before we crossed the border into South Australia. Yep, after 22 days on the road we have finally left the West. We also crossed our second time change for the country.

Tonight we again had a bush camp. We headed for a little town called Fowler's Bay but couldn't find the camping area so we continued on the road and just turned off on a track and drove for a few minutes finding ourselves a perfect spot to stop for the night. Provisions are getting low so we had some yummy leftovers for dinner and again were entertained by the spectacular (shooting) stars above.
