Bush Camp WA
Finally broke camp this morning. On the way we passed
by the ranger station and asked about any good 4x4 tracks around. She told us of two that might be suitable but
would be a challenge for our van. We
love a challenge.
We chose the 40km Captain Fawcett Commemorative Track
that took us about 3 hours to complete.
This was the most extreme 4x4
driving of the trip so far and we loved it! The track took us past old
timber bridges and sidings from the old timber cutting days. Deep ruts and weathering of the track made
some of the driving very hairy but we arrived at the end of the track safe and
sound.
Just before the end of the track we spotted a neat
camping site and Nic suggested we return here for the night (also leaving some
gear to 'stake the site'). Jim said not to worry so off we drove into
town get get provisions for another night in the bush.
Oops – on returning to our secret site we found
someone else had beaten us to the site and set up their tent! Bugga. Jim will not hear the end of this one.
But we did turn adversity to our good fortune when we
found another beautiful campsite with a flowing brook and plenty of fire wood.
