Lipari

The port of Cannetto has a few shops/ bakeries, gelato bars and a nautical shop where we purchased the necessary items for our week on the island – a snorkeling set each and a beach mat due to the fact that there is no sand – just pebbles on their beaches.

We asked the shop assistant for the best beach and she pointed us to Spiagge Bianco “White Beach”. Of course it wasn't white but it is one of the most beautiful beaches either of us has ever been to. Like all good beaches, you have a bit of a trek to get there but the pay off is worth it. The water is the clearest and most turquoise that we've ever seen. We snorkeled around the rocks and it was something out of a movie – so beautiful.

This afternoon we went for a drive around the island, got lost and then found our way again. Some of the roads we ended upon probably weren't suitable for the little car we have, but no one got bogged, the axle remains intact, so no harm done.
