Sernade to Akaroa

One of the fascinatig thimgs about modern travel is finding what you have arranged thousands of miles away generally works. So that the bus we organised and paid for in Devon to take us to Akaroa actually arrived. It was slightly late so that we were kept in suspense for a short time, enough to really appreciate it when it came. This has also applied to the accommodation we have booked so far. I am not superstitious but I am keeping my fingers crossed.
Our bus driver introduced himself as Kevin and kindly gave us some history en route. Part of his routine was to sing us a Maori song made famouse by Kiri Tekanawa. We were expected at the hostel and given lots of useful info by the hostel owner about out impending walk around the Banks Peninsula. The thing that we have had to get used to is the organising and cooking of our food. This comes as a complete change to the past 3 weeks. We delayed this by buying fish and chips in Akaroa. May be out of communication for the next few days while we are on our walk.
The weather is warm but no oppressive. We are in the the middle of summer here and there is a gentle breeze to keep things cool.
