Photographing the world, one country at a time.
My Photo scholarship 2010 entry

I stumbled across the strange sight of the procession of Ma Song to the various Chinese temples at the Krabi Vegetarian Festival last year, on my first bicycle trip around Thailand. This year, living in Krabi, I came prepared with my camera, ready to capture a side of Thailand few foreigners see.
The world as I see it is an incredible place. There are fascinating scenes, from breathtaking landscapes to intimate glimpses into the lives of people far different from you and me, that I wish I could share with the world to inspire them with the same awe I feel.
I first started taking pictures when backpacking to remote places in the US—the Continental Divide, the Grand Canyon—and realized I had the privilege of seeing some of the most beautiful places in the world and wishing I could share them. Since then, my love of adventure and appreciation for the world has only grown as my horizons have expanded. I've spent the last two years traveling: the UK, France, Spain, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, the Caribbean, and the US, taking pictures everywhere I go.
Everything I know about photography I've learned from experience. I learn new things every day, and I've still got a lot to learn. This opportunity sounds like a dream come true! There is nothing I would love more than the opportunity to learn hands-on from someone who is doing what I would love to do, and to get some exposure on National Geographic Channel's website. I've never visited Bhutan, but I'm fascinated by Asia and I can't imagine better circumstances under which to go.
Photography is something that will always be a part of my life, whether I am taking pictures just for myself or to share with the world, but I believe I have something to share and would relish the opportunity to hone that ability.
