Happy New Years!!!

JAPAN | Thursday, 3 January 2008 | Views [563] | Comments [3]

Ok, so i know i'm a little late, but i thought i'd take the time to stop and say happy new years to everyone, and i hope this year will be as fantastic as mine has been so far...

coz i started work at the ridiculous time of 6 this morning, its now 330 and ive been free for almost an hour! so i thought id finally get around to writing you all a proper blog. and, whats more i have photos for your viewing pleasure!!!

where to start? well, work is busy, always. but i've got the hang of it now so its all good. i was even on the register for most of the day today! now thats scary. i have to admit though, the work gets very boring and repeditive, very quickly. thank goodness for the perks, like skiing with the lifts open till 930pm, to keep us sane! for the last 5 days ive been night boarding every night, but i think i may have reshaped my ribcage last night, so i might give it a rest for the nxt couple of days... :( im loving boarding though, its so much fun :D i dont know what ill do with myself when i leave here, ill have nothing to do in my spare time!!

work days are fairly long, an 8 and 3/4 hour shift, but we get three 1/2 hour breaks, so really its not so bad. unfortunately though, everything in the store is made for people half my height, so i think i might be a hunchback by the time im finished here... and i really have to watch where i put my elbows, or i might end up knocking one of my co-workers out! and as they are all so friendly i'd hate to do that! in the photo of subway ive attached, the line during breakfast and lunch rush usually reaches at least to where i have take the photo from. and i think you can see my boss behind the counter in this photo..

ive also included some photos of the views i see from my rooms window, and from the door of the plaza where you step out to go skiing (which i can see from work if there arent many people in the way).

also included is a photo of part of our new years partying. we started off at a little japanese bar type thing called junkenpon (which is the japanese word for the paper scissors rock game! (you play psr at the end of the night to see if u can halve your bill!!))and this photo is taken from there. we then moved on to tracks, an aussie owned and run bar, full of gaijin (foreigners), and more like home, where we counted in the new year, and danced, played pool and the like. oh! and of course i shouldnt forget to mention that i started off the night by boarding in some of the most awesome powder snow ever! what more can a person want in a new years celebration?!

on the negative side though, i think ive taken up smoking, albeit second hand smoke, as japan hasnt heard of the no smoking in doors rule, and everywhere people go in their freetime reeks of smoke, even if no one is smoking at the time... which is rarely...

tomoro is my first day off! which is very exciting! i dont know what ill do with myself! well, actually the plan is to go to the local department store (so much better than the ones in aus) and the hyaku-en (100 yen/$1) shop, and sleep in, and if my ribs will let me get some boarding in as well of course!!

anyway, i think im running out of news, so ill love you all and leave you. anyone with any questions, comment me! and anyone with photos of me and u together, send them to me!

xoxo
