THE AMAZING ADVENTURES OF JESS & DAN back on the road again...

macbackpackers day five

UNITED KINGDOM | Sunday, 21 September 2008 | Views [724] | Comments [3]

day five began with a sleep in, because the night before we spent drinking and roaming the streets of oban at 1am in search of a place to drink..damn small towns all shut down at 1am!so we went back to the hostel, listened to weird norway man singing on guitar, sniffed paint fumes as man painted hostel and finally woke everyone up in our dorm room as we crashed around in the dark.

Spent the last day..aaaww..of the tour stopping at a gorgeous scottish church, a scottish beach that was so freezing cold i have no idea why anyone would swim there.

For lunch we visited the most awesome pub ever, its called the drovers in and its in the middle of nowhere. its an original building from the 1700's and it feels like it, the roof is so low and everything was kinda dark and dingy, was kinda spooky to..all the stuffed animals around the building, two headed stuffed sheep, stuffed life size bear, candles, weird books and two little bottles of peoples ashes that have died at the pub helped also with the spookiness though. The meals were awesome though, me dan and amy all tried haggis..mel chickened..and then us girls washed it down with chicken burgers and dan had steak and guiness pie.

Stopped at Loch lubmaig on the way to stirling, it was the stillest loch/lake that i have ever seen, perfect reflections from the hills on the water..that was until we started throwing rocks in the water and wrecked the photos for the photographers on the other side..oops. ruth also showed us how they use to wear kilts back in the 1700's. they were more than the skirt, they were a whole rug tied around the waist and used for all differect purposes, sleeping bag, big pockets and even dressed up with brooches for parties. mel even know how to fold one now.

From there the last stop of the day was the william wallace monument in stirling...re.braveheart movie. good view from the monument. funniest thing is that there use to be a statue that was made by a local stone mason after he was inspired after watching braveheart..thing is the statue was a spitting replica of mel gibson..lol, it continually got vandalised, the scottish werent happy a short aussie man was being portrayed as the hero.it got so vandalised they set cctv cameras on it,still didnt help so they had to remove it, so we didnt get to see it ):

tour dropped us back at edinburgh and a couple of hours later we were back at faskally, ready to start work again. im kinda tired though, i think i need a holiday after the holiday. the tour was awesome though and we all had a ball.

there are more photos up too.

love always, hope everyone is enjoying the school holidays

love jess xoxo
