Today, our last day in mykonos, we decided we would live like true greek kings!
After a cheap night on triple smirnoff (alcohol here is ridiculously cheap! what is $60 at home, cost us 13 euro here!! its crazy), so after that bottle, and the nice man at the restuarant introducing us to ouzo and cognac, we had a pretty big nite. The restuarant was awesome, i think because its low season they're pretty generous with tourists at the moment. We also got free baklava, its a greek pastry desert, with layers of pastry and nuts and honey. I'va had it in Australia before, but nothing compares to true greek baklava. Luke-The fetta cheese here is amazing as well.
We have discovered that most greek people ask if we are australians, we answer yes, they then ask are you from melbourne? We hadnt realised that because the greek population is so huge in melbourne, that because were from melbourne, the greek ppl have been so nice and always willing to have a joke and share their baklava and ouzo. Its been awesome!
Anyway, back to today. We slept till 10, dan and i then went for a walk into the city to get milk and cereal for breakfast. We also had an awesome capuccino-itlian coffee! Had bananas and cereal for brekkie on the hotel balcony looking out towards the ocean. Then we read books, i went for a walk on the beach and just relaxed. At around 2 we had lunch on the beach-bread, salami, tzatiki, cheese and pickles. Spent the arvo resting, reading, cleaning up our stuff ready to go to paros tomoz and then had a nanny nap-yep, i still slober in my sleep gai, i even slobered on dan today!lol, he loved it.
At around 6ish we have walked in to town, are using the computers and prob will have pasta, pizza or gyros (like souvlaki). Then the shops are open till crazy hours -most midnight, so will wander them and then head back to bed.
Oh, the life of a greek is tough!
even worse, tomorrow were heading to paros, apparently the greenest island (i never realised how barren the islands are, all rock!there is no trees!) The ferry leaves at 7.15am, so tomoz will be a bit earlier.
Guess what was on tv today??? SKippy dubbed in greek! classic. theyve also dubbed oprah. her lips move but different sounds come out.
Hope all is well at home, glad you enjoyed the photos.
gma, sorry for the lack of explanations on the fotos, ran out of net time. Yes, they are the windmills on mykonos, we were directed towards them by a nice greek man who called them "windymills".
Glad the weather is nice, its been beautiful here, i laid on the beach in skirt and singlet top and got burnt!
love to you all from mykonos.
love jess and dan xoxoxoox
