Where timetables are a rough guide

Left Nice, on my own, by train to Cinque Terra (five towns) with a change in Genoa. Cinque Terra easily rates up there with some of the best sights I have seen. It is a stretch of the Ligurian Coast (North West) between Levanto and La Spezia which is a National Park. The five little fishing villages are all linked by a walking path that has some most spectacular views of the rugged coastline. The towns are also linked by train in case you don't feel like walking the five hour trek from one end to the other. From Cinque Terra I caught a train to Rome, where I am at the moment. I was lucky enough to cop a young family and an old lady in the booth I was seated in. The young family had two baby birds of some description and the old lady had a dog and of course all these animals need to get fed along with everyone else when lunch time comes around...
Got up early this morning and went to the Vatican to check out St Peter's Basilica and Sistine Chappel. After all the cathederals I have seen and the fact I am not into that sort of art, I would say a bit over-rated. I'll check out the Pantheon and the Colosseum tomorrow. Already booked my seat on the train to Salerno which is the main train staion to the Amalfi Coast.
