Fishing has left the biggest mark on the Lofoten Islands in terms of history and culture. In the past, almost everyone here made their living out at sea and many traces of that can still be seen, including racks upon racks of cod tied up on racks to dry and dried fish heads such as this hung as decorations. While diminished from what it once was, fishing is still a predominant industry in the Lofoten Islands.
