Situated north of the Arctic Circle, the Lofoten Islands experience the some of the extremes of an arctic environment while maintaining a relatively mild climate.  Summer days stretch on forever with the midnight sun illuminating the land below, while darkness encompasses long winter nights with the exception of the majestic Aurora Borealis dancing overhead.
