Family having lunch infront of the stove that is used to cook and keep warm.

The elderly carry out heavy chores however, they are extremely fit. The villagers would climb up the mountains to the forested area to collect raw materials such as firewoods and pine needles. This is a picture of an elderly carrying pine needles on her back using a rope. Given that the mountain is steep, they are unable to use any vehicles but to carry on their backs.

In the village the temperature drops to -10deg after sunset. So before it turns dark, villagers would head home. Anai is resting infront of the stove that is not only use to cook but to keep warm.

Anai is a salutation for grandmother. It means
