Cambodia - Vietnam

VIETNAM | Sunday, 17 June 2007 | Views [1092] | Comments [4]

Well we arrived in Vietnam on Sunday and both of us have been so sick!

Just before our flight from Cambodia, Jamie started having dizzy spells, heart was racing and looked really pale.
So me being the worry wart I am, called for some medical assistance and they put him in the infirmary for 5 hours.
We missed our flight but they booked us on the later one. We had these two Cambodian paramedics (one doctor and a sidekick) that checked his temp and blood pressure. When they first checked his blood pressure it wasn't normal. The doctor gave him some medicine and left him for a couple of minutes, before they tested his blood pressure again. The tablets had bought his blood pressure down, but he was still really pale and felt sick. The doctor diagnosed him as being exhausted and stayed with him the full 5 hours, until our next flight.

Seak (sidekick paramedic) thought Jamie was a movie star and asked for his email address, so that was funny!

We arrived at Vietnam, and got to our hotel. It wasn't very nice compared to our accommodation in Cambodia.
When we got up in the morning, Jamie wasn't feeling any better so we went to the hospital. We were SO worried we were going to go to this crappy hospital and no one would speak english, but when we walked in they all spoke english and were all foreign doctors. We went to Family Medical Practice Ho Chi Minh City (for anyone who needs to go there) the nurse we had was from Canada and she was really lovely and reassuring.
We explained his symptoms and they took his blood pressure, did some blood tests and monitored his heart.
We stayed in there for 3 hours and he started feeling better.

All the tests came back all clear and he was good to go.
We were still worried and just spent the rest of the day in our crappy hotel room; where the toilet is SO close to the wall, you have to side saddle it!

Candice has had the flu and we have been spending most of our time indoors sleeping.
The only places we have been to are the Cu Chi Tunnels, Reunification Palace and War Remnants Museum.
We also went to the cinema on Tuesday and saw Spiderman 3 IN ENGLISH! So it was a great day.

We are not pleased that people still haven't sent us any photos yet...still waiting!!!

To find out more go to the www.statravel.com.au or look on the Getaway fact sheet. I figue you will be in China so it wouldn't hurt to tell you about it so if you had some spare time... The people on the segments loved the fact that they got to know the Pandas and it was different from other holidaies because they were helping to concerve these awsome creature.
