Walkabout 2011

Day 4 - Saturday 6 Aug

USA | Sunday, 7 August 2011 | Views [299]

After our "grande promenade" yesterday, neither of us was overly keen to slip on the walking boots today, so after having celebrated Leanne's 33rd birthday and seeing her off to work (quite a lot of American businesses still open on Saturday !), we spent a quiet day confirming that the Nazis are still bad, on the Military History Channel.

Did a little bit of measuring for a new garden out the front of Leanne's place and pondered solutions to the backyard, which now has a raised rear held back by a retaining wall and filled with a clay soil - not that easy to work with.  I also had a look at the side gate which has now fallen off its support post and was actually built without a supporting cross brace, to hold the gate square.  I think I can fix that but it will require a trip to the Mecca of hardware stores, Home Depot.

Though the humidity was high today, it managed to rain a little in the PM.  Went out to tea at the Lost Dog Cafe in Arlington - a place full of character which also financially supports stray dogs and cats - but not at the restaurant.
