My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

After school, I went travelling.
In London, working long hours, exploring the city by foot over weekends, one night, I thought about the photos I would take to show off the city. I started making notes. The next morning I bought my first SLR.
A new passion was born which, over twenty years later, is still alive.
Back home, I studied photography, went to work on cruise ships, as a guide, travelling Africa, and in between I did assistant work for many photographers, from weddings, too commercial.
My live purpose, I discovered many years ago is “To explore, discover, and create (respect)”. I have tried to follow that motto in all that I have done, but have never done what I believe would encapsulate that sentence perfectly – Documentary Travel Photography.
I believe this competition is a once in a lifetime chance for me to do just that.
I am accustomed to travel, a passionate photographer, and experienced photographer's assistant. I really know how much a person can learn from this experience – and will give it my all.
My photo essay about a family holiday in Zanzibar, stryves to use a tourist boat trip as a vehicle with which to tell you more about the Island and the people.
