After the rain storm: During the month of may the Islands are peppered by early morning rain storms. These storms can dissapear as soon as they arrived, for a wonderfull sunny afternoon.

Hoisting the sails: In the early nineteen hundreds, with the appearance of the steam boat, it was remarked that the days of the dow is over. A hundred years later, the dow is still the main form of transport for people and cargo too and from the island.

Catching dinner on the way home: Fishing has for a long time been one of the main activities of the people of Zanzibar, but it has seriously damaged the reefsand depleted the stock. Today there is a strong friction between those earning their money from fishing, and thoes earning it from tourism. Even those on the tourism side need to eat it seems.
