    Returning to our hotel: The east coast of Inguya Island is lined with hotels and resorts. Although Zanzibar is known as the spice island, which it became known as long after slavery, the main income, by far, comes from tourism by: jacquestravels Views[228] Catching dinner on the way home: Fishing has for a long time been one of the main activities of the people of Zanzibar, but it has seriously damaged the reefsand depleted the stock. Today there is a strong friction between those earning their money from fishing, and thoes earning it from tourism. Even those on the tourism side need to eat it seems. by: jacquestravels Views[214] After the rain storm: During the month of may the Islands are peppered by early morning rain storms. These storms can dissapear as soon as they arrived, for a wonderfull sunny afternoon. by: jacquestravels Views[196] Hoisting the sails: In the early nineteen hundreds, with the appearance of the steam boat, it was remarked that the days of the dow is over. A hundred years later, the dow is still the main form of transport for people and cargo too and from the island. by: jacquestravels Views[281] Once the sails are up, all there is to do is chill. Tourism is by far the largest income earner for the Islands, and has had a strong invluence on the culture and dress code of what is in general a traditionally Moslem Island. by: jacquestravels Views[185]
