This is just a quick note to everyone to say thanks for all of the posts on the blog! We don't have consistent cheap internet access enough to reply to every one -- but know that we love getting them and reading them and we love knowing that all of you are out there travelling along with us!!
The quick scoop. We spent an amazing couple of days in a small town called Salerno that is east of a town called Armenia. It is a sleepy little weekend getaway for the locals kind of place -- with amazing hikes through giant groves of wax palms. We met up with a few US and Aussie backpackers at our hostel (an old retired banana plantation)for our outing -- I think one photo from that day is up on the web. At least one more to come. Suffice to say -- it was spectacular.
From there, we journeyed up to Medallin for a one night stop over before an all day bus to Cartagena yesterday. Cartagena is on the norther coast of Colombia -- on the Carribean coast. It is beyond words. Best description I can give fast: A Spanish version of New Orleans meets South Beach Miami. We are here for the beginning of wedding festivities -- the wedding of Miral's friend is in Santa Marta next Saturday. We're meeting up with the bride and groom very soon, so I'd better run.
Better written stores to follow. Promise! And Go Eagles!
