The children of Cambodia with their magnetic and infectious smiles. Like few other places in the world, you feel how vital it is to raise these children into healthy, functional adults. The future of Cambodia literally depends on it.

We drove 15 minutes outside of Phnom Penh to The Killing Fields of Choeung Ek – the death and grave site for most S21 victims. The skulls and bones and old clothes that we saw preserved in this beautiful stupa are only a percentage of those that filled Killing Fields from 1975-1979 and are scattered all across the country.

We visited a program in Siem Reap that helps impoverished village children get an education – which includes learning traditional Khmer dances. Each Sunday night the children offer performances that yield donations that help fund the program. Here, two girls perform Apsara dancing – the same dances depicted on the reliefs at Angkor Wat. Knowledge of these dances was destroyed by the Khmer Rouge, and it took the assistance of Thai dancers to bring them back to Cambodia.
