We couldn't resist beginning Day 2 at the Angkor Temples by joining about 500 of our closest co-tourists to watch the sun rise over Angkor Wat.

Everywhere you turn are these gorgeously sublime faces -- and stone or not, they create a very real feeling that you are being watched. Many say the faces have a remarkable resemblance to the king who built the temple (Jayavarman VII) -- so it may have been an early attempt at creating Big Brother.

From there, we biked over to the Ta Prohm temple (built 1186) -- where an indescribable atmosphere is created by the massive trees that have engaged in a slow-motion wrestling match with the gorgeous man-made spiritual center.
