The temperature is starting to rise. Afterall, it is summer in Chicagoland and what would summer be without a little humidity the rising mercury? I don´t think it would be too bad except that the AC at work has been out since July 1. Temperatures in the store I was working in reached 95º in the coolest part of the store, even with several portable AC units. A few days ago I got sent home early from work due to mild heat stroke two days in a row so they finally decided to close the store temporarily and move me to a different location until the AC at my store gets fixed. Clearly there is a hold up of some sort on the HVAC side, what exactly that is, I am unsure. Anyway, I have cooled off and have no serious/lasting effects from the two days of mild heat stroke.
I am excited for August to come! I have lots of visitors coming my way between family on business trips, friends from WI/Spain/Other foreign lands and even family of other friends. It´s fantastic to catch up with familiar faces! I hope to get back East some point before Christmas time for a nice visit, too. I am planning a trip in October so depending on how those plans go I will either be in CT on retreat, NY/PA/NJ visiting family or England/Finland visiting friends/family. I will keep you all posted!
Cat sitting has been an adventure! The cats (Wally and Freckles) are now teaming up together to cause all sorts of trouble. Of course there is still lots of playful kitty flirting and chasing going on around my apartment. Wally will be going back to his home soon which makes me curious to see how the cats will react to that separation now that they have become such good playmates.
I am looking forward to tomorrow and Wednesday - my two days off this week! Tomorrow, amongst many errands, I intend on cooking up some yummy steaks for dinner and something sweet and tastey for dessert. Wednesday I will kick back and relax for most of the day. I also promised a neighbor I would help him create a resume/cover letter since he´s been without a job for a while now. I´m glad to help him out, too.
July fourth I went to Madison and caught up with many friends from UW. It was a blast! I was there just for the day but enjoyed a nice lunch out, drinks and cards on the terrace and many travel stories with people just returned from adventures abroad. I think Madison will always be a second home where ever I am in the world.
Until next time!
