    The church's gallery now holds a number of beds to accommodate Adrian and his two boys, as well his partner and her two children. Shortly after, it's time for me to leave. I can't help feeling somewhat divided in my opinion of the place. It has the potential to be a beautifully refined home but there's something wonderfully endearing about it as it is. by: holly_peel Views[293] As an architect, Adrian has in part been responsible for the conversion from church to home. I get the feeling that nothing much has really progressed since his wife died, although I can't say for sure as it's a topic of conversation understandably best avoided. by: holly_peel Views[313] What would have originally been the church's nave is now a games room for Adrian's two boys. The purpose built shed's hold all manner of things, including a substantial collection of Warhammer models. In a church that features stained glass windows painted by the likes of Burne-Jones, the modern one feels somewhat out of place. by: holly_peel Views[335] Having entered the church, we congregate in what is now a rather cluttered kitchen. I soon discover it's a trend that runs throughout the building. by: holly_peel Views[364] Welcome to Emmanuel House. Formerly Emmanuel Church, it was built in 1828-29 by Robert Chantrell, architect to Leeds at the time. It's here that I first meet Adrian, a lecturer in architecture at Huddersfield University. He extends his hand to greet me and when questioned, talks excitedly about the church he is proud to call home. Having heard so much about him prior to my visit, he's somewhat less quiet and reserved than I was expecting and his friendly mannerisms immediately put me at ease.
