My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
United Kingdom | Wednesday, July 3, 2013 | 5 photos
My dream isn’t all that different from those belonging to the other entrants. I aim to be a professional photojournalist. Most importantly however, I want my photographs to serve a purpose. I wish to see more of the world, while sharing my experiences and to the greatest possible extent the experiences of those I photograph, with others.
I love photography for its ability to record realities, universally inform and serve as a physical memory. For these reasons, I’m an advocate of honesty within photography. I’m particularly fond of traditional black & white film photography. This is due to the great satisfaction I derive from the process of producing a physical object, as opposed to a file on a screen.
I’ve been lucky enough not only to grow up in various parts of the world, but to travel quite a bit too. As a result, I feel able to integrate with a number of cultures.
The scholarship would provide me with the further confidence I require regarding my interaction with others in relation to my work, helping me achieve greater depth to the stories I tell. It would also improve my technical understanding and provide me with exposure to a professional working environment.
