Emmanuel House

My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Welcome to Emmanuel House. Formerly Emmanuel Church, it was built in 1828-29 by Robert Chantrell, architect to Leeds at the time. It's here that I first meet Adrian, a lecturer in architecture at Huddersfield University. He extends his hand to greet me and when questioned, talks excitedly about the church he is proud to call home. Having heard so much about him prior to my visit, he's somewhat less quiet and reserved than I was expecting and his friendly mannerisms immediately put me at ease. We enter through the side door because the main entrance is blocked.
