Henrika's Fascinating Adventures

Traveller's holiday week

THAILAND | Sunday, 18 March 2012 | Views [233]

One week has passed in my holiday destation Koh Chang, not much going on in my life now and no exciting  adventures to share in blog. My bungalow is like a little bug zoo, I have come across  spiders and lizards.  I've been taking it easy here, eating, sleeping, trying thai massages and laying on beach.  Right now I am more like a beach bum than a traveller. Yes. welI I felt I was in need of a holiday after travelling only one month. But I am a beginner you see and the first leg of my trip was India which is not the easiest place to travel.  It is good to stop somewhere and take a deep breath, process all you have seen and experienced. India was a lot to take in. As enjoyable travelling is it is also very tiring.

I've been away from this Lonely beach only twice, I finally made to the post office to send off some of my Indian memories. That 6 meters of a silk saree was a bit too heavy in my backpack. It took quite a fair share of space as well.  I chose snail mail, the parcel gonna sail the next 2 months before  is expected to reach Finland. No rush...It was 1.5 Kg parcel, I did't even ask how much it'd have cost by air, 1200B by boat.

I  also visited the next village to an ATM. It was running out of cash and had only 20B left. Enough tp buy a bottle of water and nothing else. Neither of the ATMs were working in this villige. It was a weekend so I didn't want to wait and see whether will be fixed any time soon and it would have been a few long days without any cash. Hmmm nice a 20 minutes walk to the next one. A beautuful scenera I must say. I passed a herbal sauna, I don't think that's the Finnish one I heard about but something I gotta try anyway.  Btw Next time I won't let my cash go that low before attempting to withdrawing more. Only cash is good in shops and restaurants around here.

There are parties everyday but I haven't been tempted to join in even thugh there are free buckets for the ladies. I wish that there was one night without music nearby. But unfortunately this a resort for 20  something who enjoy all that. I have decided not to get too annoyed. it is not like I have to wake up early in the morning and go to work. And if you cannot beat the enemy join it. I am really considering it tonight as it is March 17th, St Paddy's day and I am still resident of Ireland. At least I am goona drink Chang beer or imported cider for St Paddy and Dublin, my hometown for so many years.

Oh I got something exciting to share... I am gonna take a cat to sleep in my bungalow tonight. I have a confirmation that once again I live with a mouse. This is only third place in a row I am sharing  a house with a mouse. At first I thought it must be something outside that  I was being paranoid until I discovered that it is been after my outmeal in my backpack and also chewed my camera's tv cable into 2 pieces.  I talked to the owner and we decided we gonna try a cat to catch the mouse. If  it doesn't work, try some traps. This is routine to me therefore I didn't run away and ask for a refund. Just get rid of the mouse.  Let's wish the cat good hunting luck. I wanna sleep my nights without hearing the straches of the mouse's little cloves on my wooden floor. I don't mind sharing my bungalow with a cat though but fingers crossed that he will catch the mouse tonight.
