The Wend: Series 3, Episode 1

One of Those A-Minor Days

last series we saw our protagonist negotiate chariots of time,
gallantly riding crests of indecision into distant lands. he was
bathed in Ancient Wonders of historical and prehistorical persuasion.
there were new challenges and a plethora of sub-plots to keep even our
most travel-weary followers biting their ones and zeroes.

In this series we find the compass glued squarely toward the East as
we Goose-Step into Asia Minor. a New Character is introduced as The
Wonderful Ms Neukermans joins us all the way from Belgium. as a
bizarrely apt analogy for Series 3, the cursive Arabic script gives
way to a character set that is simultaneously familiar and foreign.

Episode 1: One of Those A-Minor Days

there, ahead of us, lies 300 km of hiking trails. St Paul
Evangelicised somewhere through here all those centuries ago, and the
Romans built their roads, as Romans did. long before that, however,
shepards and traders used them to get where they needed to be. we have
a plan to walk them all. watch us go.

2 hours in, and there WAS a plan. "We can just catch a Dolmuş to
Beşkonak and pıck up the trail there.  No problem, it will be fine.
Yeah, i am sure we can get gas canisters for your camping stove in
town before we start. we can sleep in, there is no rush"  It seems
like our protagonist has lost whatever dwindling plannıng capabilities
he had in Series 2......

so we cannot buy gas canisters in town. we miss the last transport to
our intended start point. Was this deliberate? maybe.  but we have
started, and while nothing is quite as it should be, in this series
rhetoric is irrelevant. plans will change hourly in a land where the
people will roll with us through a rollickıng adventure,
simultaneously familiar and foriegn.

hugs and love from Turkey. gobble gobble.
