Sydney is amazing. Staying in a hostel called Wake Up which was a great location for the coach dropping me off the other morning from Melbourne, just a little trek to see the sights, it's a good job I like walking!
I decided to forget that I was living off hardly any sleep and join a free walking tour from the hostel around the city. A great way to meet people and also get my bearings as I am rubbish with directions. We walked lots and lots, taking in the sights of the Botanical Gardens, Darling Harbour, the markets, a shopping centre which is really pretty in all the Christmas decorations, then along to Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House. Got a few goose bumps when seeing them for real and took full opportunity of taking plenty of photos. We stopped for lunch at the Opera House, not a bad view to enjoy whilst tucking into food!
I thought I would see who was down stairs in the bar last night and took a look around. Recognised a guy who I am sharing a dorm room with and ended up spending the evening drinking with 4 lads from Hull.
Today, 4 of us sharing a dorm room decided to get the ferry across to Manly Beach. The weather is so warm, it's a concern of mine how much hotter it is going to get in the next month leading up to Christmas! (I shouldn't complain, at least it's not freezing like at home!) We walked along the beach, eating ice lollys and saw a penguin swimming in the sea, he was too quick for me to get my camera out.
The next few days in Sydney I plan to join a free walk with the hostel again to Bondi Beach, I will go to the Sky Tower as I seem to visit them in any city I visit, and I plan to do something with that bridge, whether to climb it or just take the steps on one of the towers! Also visit to see the Blue Mountains.
