Somewhere over the Gulf of Thailand

Somewhere over the Gulf of Thailand

It hasn't even been a week since I left the states and a lot so much has happen. I have been so busy it has been tough to blog. That has always been the problem I have had with these types of things. When I am doing really interesting , blogworthy things I don't have time to document it. When I do have time to write blogs I usually have nothing interesting to say.

I had actually written a bunch of blogs that I haven't published, on my laptop. This is the first time I have been able to connect my computer to the internet. I may publish them latter but for right now, I thought I would just do a quick up date.

Since I last wrote, I moved out of my house and made the long flight across the pacific. It took me about 42 hours to get from LAX to Phnom Penh. About half the time was in the air and half of it was layover. I had a short on (1 hour in Taipei) and a long one (20 hours) in Kuala Lumpur. KL was fun, I couch surfed at Leechians place. SHe showed me around KL, I saw the towers, and about 50 starbucks (love that globalization). The next morning I took the short 2 hour flight fromk KL to Phnom Penh.

Sopheap the volunteer coordinator for Conversations with Foreiners picked me up at the Airport. She took me to the volunteer house where I will be living for the next 3 months. The house wasn't ready for me so I dropped off my bags, took a glorious cold shower and then jumped on the first bus to Sihanoukville. Chilled out at the beach for 2 days. Saw something I never expected to see in Cambodia, and African drum circle on the beach. Got dragged into the drum circles by one of the Africans and danced for 30 minutes, had a smile from ear to ear. Took the bus back to PP, and started my orientation yesterday. All the volunteers are way cool. Life is good, I'm really glad to be back here and I'm sure I will have an amazing experience.

I'll try and do a better job of updating this thing. Right now I need to go, lunch is ready
